who is draco malfoy? Author's Note: This is my response to a question asked by OccupiedNeptune on April 7th, 2005 on pg.5 of thread LXXXIII of the HP/DM S.S. Guns 'n' Handcuffs thread, SCUSA, FictionAlley Park. Analogy city, here I come. Draco Malfoy is a half-fired pot of clay that's in the shape his maker wants him to be, but moves around to accomodate to his own surroundings. He's soft and hard at the same time but fragile enough that if you drop him a certain way he'll crack. He's half-dried and no one can easily mold him over unless you soften him and control him to what you want him to be, and even then he'll stick to his own style and mold into something that is three-quarters him and one-quarter the person who molded him to be that way. The way most people see him is as something that is just there with no meaning, just there to fill up space or hide something, but in truth he's much more than that. He's not a filler, he makes things full, and in time he might be full himself. For now he might just be the half-fired pot of clay on the mantle while Harry stands in front of it, but who is anyone to expect him to be that way for long? He's more than just that. He is. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if we could we would tattoo that on Draco's back for the world to see, because nasty-evil- mean is what Draco is now but he's a tangible thing. tangible: capable of being perceived by the senses or the mind; especially capable of being handled or touched or felt. Tangible makes him not only nasty-evil-mean but misunderstood-pushed away-hidden and flat-2D-what you see is what you get. He's tangible and he's clay and we've molded him to have a thousand-million different personalities, and that's what Draco Malfoy is, he's something we like to perceive by the senses and the mind and we're handling him just fine. We want JK to handle him the way we are, but she might or she might not. But just like the half-fired pot of clay on the mantle, we get to mold him however we want to, because he's beauty in us, and we're the beholders. [/dramatic rant] back |
